Discover Why Tanning Beds Wed Technology With Cosmetics

Since a sun tan tan is in vogue, it has created high demand for tanning equipment such as tanning beds and tanning booths. This has motivated research for sophisticated and affordable tanning equipment.

Many innovative tanning devices are available for striking tan at very reasonable prices. The following are common tanning devices available in the market:

* Tanning Beds
* Tanning Booths
* Tanning Canopies
* Tanning Lamps

Tanning Beds : Two type of tanning beds are available in the market. Commercial tanning beds have wide range of user-friendly features and fit for longer use. The commercial tanning beds are large, programmable and expensive. Usually only Tanning saloons install these tanning beds.

There are many specifications laid down to regulate tanning saloons. Only well-trained saloon employees can handle and program these tanning beds for clients. They also suggest the number of treatments needed to achieve and maintain the desired effect.

Home tanning beds are normally smaller and most of them are foldable and consume very little space. They are easy to use and very effective even with their limited features. All members of your family can use it. Therefore, it is cheaper to use a home tanning bed.

Tanning Booths: Tanning booths are a vertical version of tanning bed. Instead of lying, you have to stand in tanning booth and ultraviolet lights hit your body from all around. Most saloons will provide stools to sit on while you enjoy the tan.

Tanning Canopy: This canopy only has a tanning roof. You need to use your own bed and chair below it. Tanning canopies are cheap and convenient. You can store them easily. However, you have to roll over to tan you full body under a canopy.

Tanning Lamps: Some people like to tan only the face or hands. They can use Tanning lamps. These are small, economic and compact enough to carry.

Tips To Own A Tanning Bed At Least Cost Many tanning bed companies offer huge discounts on tanning beds. They also offer a monthly payment plan to purchase tanning equipment.

With a few dollars per month, you can get a gorgeous look and become the talk of the town. If you still suspect the utility of tanning equipment, try purchasing pre-owned tanning equipment or tanning beds. Many people, who upgrade to better equipment, sell their tanning bed at throwaway prices in garage sales or online auction sites.

You can often pick up very good bargains here. Since the tanning equipment and beds are electrically operated, gorgeous looks are now just a ''click'' away!

Why Tanning Saloons Are The New Beauty Destination

Tanning is so much in fashion that tanning saloons are mushrooming everywhere. Young men and women frequently visit tanning saloons and use their tanning beds much more often than they did earlier.

Due to its popularity and the health issues related with it, government has laid down many regulations for tanning saloons and tanning beds. While home tanning is convenient and readily available, tanning saloons have some unique advantages including variety and safety.

There are five advantages of a tanning saloon over home equipment. These are:

1. Tanning saloons follow government regulations: Tanning saloons seek the approval from FDA for the tanning procedures and use of tanning beds and strictly follow them. They keep client''s record and history.

Tanning salon operators ascertain client''s ability to tan, history of sunburns, history of skin infections, rashes or other conditions and use of certain medications or cosmetics to prevent phototoxic and photo-allergic reactions. A tanning expert will use this information while planning your tanning exposure on the tanning bed of tanning saloon.

2. Use of Equipment Under Expert Guidance: At the tanning saloons, you use tanning beds and machines under the guidance and care of tanning experts. Well-trained tanning bed operators have thorough knowledge of the equipment and they can program the tanning bed according to individual client''s need. They will indeed control your dose of ultraviolet light and save you from its harmful effects.

3. Better Tanning beds: Tanning Saloons are equipped with sophisticated commercial tanning beds. Commercial tanning beds are more comfortable and safe. They have programmable knobs to control the amount and intensity of ultraviolet light.

You also have control on the tanning bed, especially to switch and open it, when feeling uncomfortable. Tanning salons also have additional equipments like an Oxygen Bar. This releases oxygen, which reacts with the skin and enhances the production of melanin for a better tan.

4. Various tanning modes: Tanning Saloons offer many tanning options. Besides tanning beds, they offer tanning booths, tanning lotions and tanning spray. These alternate methods are for the people who dislike the tanning beds. These alternate tanning options are often a better choice, especially if you are in a hurry.

5. Safety and Style in tanning saloons: Safety devices such as protective goggles are available in tanning salons for safe tanning. They also have tanning accessories such as tattoos and protective clothes. Tanning tattoos create stylish designs on the body by excluding the tattoo area from tanning.

It is therefore evident that while home tanning may be easier and simpler, professional tanning is more effective, safe and flexible. You may like to keep this in mind while weighing your tanning options and use the tanning beds.

What is Your Hair Type?

Everyday you see people with all color and style of hair. But did you know that you have a hair type? Yes! Not all hair has been created the same.

Lets start with the basic structure of hair:

1) Hair grows from the follicle, which is long and bulbous. If you were to pull out a strand of hair you would see the bulge at the tip of the hair. The cells at the base of the follicle divide rapidly and is where you get your hair growth.

2) Each strand of hair consists of three layers, the first being the innermost layer called the medulla. This is only present though in thick hair though.

3) The middle layer is known as the cortex. This layer provides the strength, color and texture of your hair.

4) The outer most layer is called the cuticle and this is what protects the cortex. It is completely colorless.

5) The entire strand of hair is made up of a protein called keratin. And that is hair!

There are 2 basic kinds of hair:

1) Terminal hair is the hair that grows thick and long and is found on the head, armpits, pubic hair face and chest. (Face and chest on men)

2) Vellus hair is soft short hair that you will find over the rest of your body.

The type of hair you have seems to have to do with geography.

1) If you are of Asian descent, then the hair strands are round and thicker than all other types of hair. With the exception of the red head who has the thickest hair of all.

2) If you are of European descent with blonde or dark hair, then your hair strands are thinner. The strands are round to oval shaped.

3) If you are of African descent, then the hair strands are flat and that is the reason for the frizziness and curl.

It''s interesting to see when you get a mix of Asian genes with African genes or Caucasian with African. I am a white girl with blonde, curly frizzy hair. My parents came from Holland where there is a high concentration of people with African descent. So it''s not hard to see where I got my hair type, which I personally love.

So you can now figure out why your hair is the way it is. You just need to do a bit of research into your family tree and there you''ll have it.

Enjoy!

Are Tanning Lotions What You Need To Make Tanning Beds safe?

Long debates on advantages and disadvantages of tanning beds and sunbathing are a good reason for many people to view a tan with suspicion.

This has led companies to undertake extensive research to reduce the harmful effects of Ultraviolet rays associated with tanning bed and sunbathing. This resulted in a few lotions. These come in two categories: Tanning bed & Sunbath lotions and Sunless tanning lotions.

Tanning Bed and Sunbath lotions

Tanning Bed Lotions - People use these lotions before or after taking tanning bed treatments. Tanning bed lotions protect the skin from excess ultraviolet light and accelerate indoor tanning.

Tan accelerators are another group of products used for tanning. These lotions are used while sunbathing. They contain a natural enzyme that stimulates the production of melanin (the body''s natural tan creating enzyme) with exposure to sunlight, as a result they are much more effective. This group of lotions accelerates tanning and reduces the harmful effects of sunlight.

Sunless Tanning: A Good Alternate to Ultra Violet Light Tanning

Self-tanning lotions will help you avoid the sun and decrease the risk of ultraviolet exposure related problems, yet will make you look good. The following are common types of generic sunless tanning lotions.

Self-tanning lotions - Research has proved them safe and effective. The Food and Drug Administration has also tested them safe. The active ingredient in these products is dihydroxyacetone (DHA). DHA gives color to the skin through a "browning reaction" when it combines with amino acids in the skin to form a chemical compound known as Melaninoid. Melaninoids are brown in color and this gives a long lasting tan to skin.

Tanning sprays are temporary but a harmless means for tanning. They save you from harmful UV rays and you do not need to make inconvenient trips to tanning saloons. Aerosol tanning sprays can leave you with a perfect looking, even tan with no hassles. All you need is to spray them on your exposed body parts. Within minutes, you will have a tan skin that you can show off anywhere.

Bronzers are yet another tanning product. They come in the form of lotions and gels. Bronzers produce a darker color on the skin by using water-soluble dyes. Bronzers color the skin almost immediately and it dries very quickly. However, it is temporary and starts fading after the first wash.

If you like healthy looking tanned skin, you never had it so good. With the products available in the market, you can become a bronze god in no time!

What Is This Passion for Tanning?

Tanned skin is very popular among gorgeous women. Everybody wants to have attractive bronzed looks. Whether you are on a date, a business trip or partying, a perfect tan can make you the center of attraction.

Having a tan is hot, and many teens and celebrities across the country seem to agree. Throughout the 20th century and indeed in the previous one, men and women hung out at the pool or the beach, soaking up rays to get a tan. However, with the advent of tanning beds you can enjoy the perfect tan right in the privacy of your home or saloon.

Tanning results from sunrays. The sun emits two types of radiations - UVA and UVB. UVB radiation burns the upper layers of skin (the epidermis) causing sunburns. UVA radiation penetrates the lower layers (the dermis) and causes tanning. However, a sunbath exposes our body to unlimited and uncontrolled dose of ultraviolet radiations. Studies have proved that an overdose of these radiations can cause skin cancer.

Sunbathing is a natural process of tanning, but it takes a lot of time. The young generation is not fortunate enough to have enough free time for sunbathing as earlier generations had. Many of them may not have spare time during the day at all.

Tanning beds and tanning lotions have emerged to help them. The tanning beds create a similar environment as under the sun. Unlike sunrays, however, a tanning bed controls the amount and nature of rays. This ensures that the harmful effects of radiation are controlled. This is a great advantage of tanning beds and you can enjoy the perfect tan without exposing your skin to harmful radiation.

Tanning beds control the amount and time of ultraviolet radiation. A tanning bed programs the emission and intensity of ultraviolet rays according to the recipient''s body. The tanning beds stop the radiations after the stipulated time. In fact, a tanning bed is like a controlled dose of ultraviolet rays.

Tanning machines and tanning beds require a few precautions because of the presence of ultraviolet light. Some of the precautions required for tanning beds are:

* You should always wear protective eye goggles while using the tanning beds. Tanning saloons have the goggles available for their clients. Never use a tanning bed without the goggles because ultraviolet rays are more harmful to the retina than to your skin.

* Tanning Bed Exposure Timings: It is important to observe the tanning bed timings. Over exposure at the tanning beds could be harmful. Exposure times also vary with the brand of bed. Make sure you are following the manufacturer''s guidelines. You can check other regulations with local Department of Health & Human Services.

Using a tanning bed is quite a simple activity. Just a few sessions and you will find everyone asking about where you have been to!

Massive Weight Loss Causes Turkey Waddle for WLS Patients

A friend of mine who recently lost nearly 150 pounds after gastric bypass was sharing her excitement with an acquaintance. She was excited because all symptoms of her Type II Diabetes were gone and she no longer takes any medication ? she feels healthier than ever in her life.

Then the acquaintance, a life-long skinny-minny, burst her bubble, "But doesn''t having that turkey neck bother you? You know, all that wrinkly skin just hanging there?"

What a cruel world. My friend was crushed. It is true, she has a turkey neck. Most people who lose massive weight will have a saggy wrinkly neck so kindly referred to in the cosmetic surgery profession as "turkey waddle". A saggy neck is a small price to pay for better health and wellness. Even so, we want to look our best after weight loss surgery and having someone draw attention to this residue of our obesity is disheartening.

There are some surgical options to tighten then neck skin: A neck lift is actually a set of procedures used to enhance the appearance of your neck:

• Cervicoplasty is the procedure used to remove excess skin

• Platysmaplasty removes or alters neck muscles

A plastic surgeon also can perform neck liposuction, which removes excess fat. In some cases, Botox injections may be the answer to your problems if you have fullness or "bands."

A neck lift was out of the question for my friend, so we did some research and found a more holistic approach that yielded some improvement. From Bharti Vyas'' book, "Beauty Wisdom" we found the following advice:

• Give your neck a weekly massage

• Hold your head in proper alignment ? imagine that your head is being pulled upwards by a piece of string attached to the crown

• Cleanse your neck night and morning the same as you do your face, starting at the collarbones and working up to the jawline.

• Apply a rich-moisturizing cream at night and moisturize with sunscreen during the day. Cover front and sides of neck and the area around the collarbones.

• Exfoliate your neck weekly.

• For crepey neck, apply almond oil as a nourishing moisturizer.

Ms. Vyas also recommends some simple exercise to tone neck muscles (and *Bonus* these are wonderfully relaxing):

• Hold your head in a central position, then lean it as far over as you can towards one shoulder and hold for a count of 10. Your neck may feel rather stiff to begin with. Repeat on the other side, making sure that your shoulders remain still and relaxed throughout. Do five repetitions.

• Keeping your chin level, turn your head to one side so that the chin is over your shoulder. Incline the head backward in a "come hither" movement. Repeat on the other side. Repeat the sequence five times.

My friend follows these practices faithfully. Her neck is not flawless, but to me it''s beautiful. She has collarbones and a chin and a beaming smile on her healthy face.

Color Contact Lenses - Change Your Eye Color in the Blink of an Eye

Did you ever wish that you had a different eye color? Or maybe you just want to do something a bit crazy and have different color eyes for each party? Color contacts can do wonders for your appearance, but only if you select the right type and color. Learn how to get the best out of your color lenses, what your options are and what to consider when selecting color contacts.

Do color lenses really change your eye color and look natural?

This is a question that worries most people who want to try color contacts for the first time. After all, you want people to think "what gorgeous eyes she has" not "what nice contact lenses she wears".

Color lens manufacturers are aware of the issue and try to make color contacts look vivid, yet natural. There is a lot of sophisticated technology involved in the brand name color contacts like Acuvue 2 Colors or Freshlook. The lens isn''t just solid color, it has a pattern similar to the pattern of a human eye. Also the color isn''t consistent throughout the lens, just like in most people eyes. See color contact lens comparison

Color lens choices for light eyes

Depending on the effect you want to create, people with light eyes can wear enhancement or opaque color contacts. If you just want to enhance your natural color, half transparent, enhancement lenses would be great for you. The best choices are:

  • Acuvue 2 Colors Enhancers ? to brighten your eyes.
  • Freshlook Radiance ? lenses with an illuminating effect that enhances your color and makes your eyes appear sparkly.
  • Freshlook Dimensions ? unique lens design makes your eyes appear not only brighter but also creates the impression of depth and dimension.
  • If you feel adventurous and want a dramatic change, go for opaque lenses:

  • Acuvue 2 Colors opaques
  • Freshlook Colorblends
  • If it is your first time with color contact lenses and you aren''t sure what effect you want, start with enhancement lenses. This way your friends will notice that you look more appealing, but they probably won''t notice what it is about you that attracts their attention.

Color contact lenses for dark eyes

If you have very dark eyes and tried color contact lenses a few years ago, you probably were not very impressed with the effect. Contacts of the previous generation didn''t look quite right. However, recently developed color lenses like Freshlook Colorblends can do wonders for dark eyes.

One thing to remember, however, is that enhancers don''t work on brown eyes, so your only choice is opaque contact lenses. Acuvue 2 Colors opaques and Freshlook Colorblends work best for dark eyes.

Also you should be careful, when selecting the color. It should be a color that would look right with your skin and hair. See color contact lens chart with suggestions and photos.

If you just want to make your eyes seem brighter and more vivid, without changing their color, go for brown or hazel color lenses. This way your eyes won''t look a different color, but people will notice that they are bright and lively.

Opaque color contacts work very well. The only thing they can''t do for you is to make your eyes light. Blue, green and aqua opaque contacts create a deep, vivid color, which suits people who have naturally brown eyes.

Do color contacts come with corrective powers?

Acuvue 2 Colors and all Freshlook collections come with visual correction powers as well as in plano (no correction). Additionally, Freshlook Colorblends is the only color lens that comes in toric, so it is suitable for people with astigmatism.

So which is better: Acuvue 2 Colors or Freshlook?

There is no single answer to this question. Both brands of lens are very comfortable to wear and create a great look. The only difference is in the colors. On the same person, blue from Acuvue would look very different from Freshlook blue. It really depends on your eyes and face, and it''s almost impossible to predict the result until you wear your color contacts.

Don''t pay to much attention to how the lens looks in the picture, because on you it will probably look different. This happens mostly with enhancer lenses ? blue enhancers over blue eyes look very different from enhancers over gray eyes. Opaque color contact lenses also can look very different on different people; this is not due to your natural eye color, but because of eye shape, skin and hair types.

When you narrow your choice to one color, I would recommend asking your doctor for two prescriptions: one for Acuvue 2 Colors and another for Freshlook. Then order both. They cost pretty much the same, so you would spend no more than if you were to order 2 boxes of each.

Then, after wearing your new color contacts for a while, you can decide for yourself, which looks better.

Also, doctors usually give you free trial color contacts. You can''t really wear them in public because trial lenses have the word "test" imprinted on them, but it gives you a fair idea about the color. Ask for two free pairs, one from Freshlook and one from Acuvue, and see which looks best.

As far as the price is concerned, Freshlook and Acuvue 2 Colors cost about the same for a 6-lens box. However, all Freshlook lenses are monthly disposable, while Acuvue 2 Colors is a 2-week disposable contacts lens. So it turns out that Freshlook is twice cheaper.

If you were thinking of giving yourself a little treat, getting color contacts would not disappoint you. And now when you know what would work best for you, you can make your choice with confidence.

    Happy changing!
